It appears that after the new Act on Smoking and Drinking came into operation, some nightclubs are reluctant to comply with it because most of their customers in the club do not like to go to one area to smoke and another area to drink and another to dance. That is their preference. Therefore, the club owners in conformity with the law should change their attitude to old norms and persuade them to adopt themselves to change and comply with the law.
Adaptability is man’s greatest asset. When we are at home we go to one area to cook, another to eat, another to sleep and yet another to use the toilet. Therefore, nobody should complain about the switching of the areas of their club life because they have to adapt themselves to changing times and situations which is reflected in every law of the land.
So, let them fall in line with the law which was passed in Parliament without a single dissenting vote.
Moreover, the country can immensely benefit if we can impose a total ban on both consumption of liquor and smoking.
The long term effect of the new law is expected to be a smoke and liquor free Sri Lanka. Nightclubs which knowingly or unknowingly pollute the mind, body and the environment, please comply with the law. It is good for all.

What will be the future of our youth who are used to the surrounding of alcohol being around ?
Will the new generation be pot smoking loons ?
Let’s hope not !!!

I’m not really clear why club owners have to go to parliament level to have a Smoke free room. All they need to do is, just grab a crayons and a cardboard and make a sign and hang in one room. They already have legal right to do so.
Well.. I personally do not worry about smoking – if I don’t like to hang out in any club because there is too much smoke – then I will not go to that place. I already have legal right not to go to any club if I don’t like to.
But I like the fact we are been better Christians and Muslims every day and also going forward Christian legal system to Islam Legal system. I think it is correct time for us to give old Buddhist way of governance and move in to Islam model. Indonesia did that, Malaysia did that, now we are doing that.
I personally like if parliament pass an act against Farting in public areas too.

when parliament passes unanimous laws( non technical ones) one should be get suspicious. most likely no good will come of that kind thing given there was no meaningful debate. it means lot of hypocritical bullshit at the cost of individal liberty has been passed.
luckily sl state is too weak to enforce this.
